Skully Sweetheart Sundress

I made this cute little summer sundress about a month ago. The weather was perfect for it then. I purchased Gertie's New Book For Better Sewing for this pattern alone.  The book has several patterns in it that are based on classic 50s styles making them perfect for a rockabilly style. I had this Skully cotton print in my stash for a few years, so it was just right for trying out the sweetheart sundress pattern for the first time.

The original pattern had a straight skirt, but I wanted a circle skirt because they are more flattering on me. I was a little short on fabric and the print was a one way directional. I had to add a few seams to make it work but it turned out very nice. The biggest surprise with this pattern was that the bust was rather large. I had to take it in. I usually have the opposite problem with patterns. But it was easy enough to alter.
