Grand Canadian Steampunk Expo

Recently my friend Robin and I attended the Grand Canadian Steampunk Expo in Niagara on the Lake at Fort George. I am very new to the whole world of Steampunk but I quite enjoyed walking around the Expo and seeing all the amazing costumes that day.  We especially loved the history of Fort George and walked around all the buildings enjoying the scenery and history.  There was even an old Steam Engine that was running and steaming corn for lunch. Yum!

The highlight of our day was attending a lecture on the history of the corset. There were examples of all the various types of corsets on display and we were able to get a close up view of all of them. I was able to pick up a few corset patterns from Farthingales that day and I am planning on making some new corsets soon.

We were not able to attend Professor Elemental's Tea Social because it was sold out on Saturday but we were able to attend the Tea Dueling Compettition put on by Toronto Steampunk Society. The tea was very good and so was the company.  In fact I hope to attend more events hosted by TSS again. Everyone has been so nice so far.

We saw a band called Steam Powered Giraffe but we didn't take the time to wait for autographs. I loved their costumes. In fact, all the costumes were amazing that day and so well made. I was very impressed with all the work and thought everyone had put into their looks. Here are just a few pics from the Expo.

As for my outfit, I wore:

Cream lace top (target)
Black lace high-low skirt with ruching (made by me)

Knee high lace up boots (Frye)
